Since 1994, energy labels have been used by the EU to inform customers in a simple and quick way. The new labels to be used for light sources have a new energy classification which was created because the previous one had reached its limits (A, A+, A++). The EU wants to give manufacturers and suppliers more room to develop future products (light sources of the current A++ class will be upgraded to C or D class at best from 1 September 2021). The QR code with a link to the EPREL database provides consumers with additional transparent information.
